Film & Theatre
Richard Smith, Evenlode Studio's proprietor, has a wide range of film and theatre experience having worked on armour, models and props for films as diverse as Batman Begins, Gladiator, Alexander, Entrapment and Van Helsing. For TV he has made, among other things, a skull chalice for BBC's "Byron" starring Jonny Lee Miller, a leather scourge for Pioneer Picture's "Da Vinci Shroud" documentary, and lightweight dumb-bells for ITV's "The Bill".
Recent professional theatrical projects for Evenlode Studio have included leather armour for the Shakespeare's Globe theatre 2009 production of "Troilus and Cressida", designed by Anna Fleischle. A dozen sets of leather Roman Lorica for two productions by the Shakespeare Theatre, Washington DC 2008: "Julius Caesar" and "Anthony & Cleopatra". Several sets of Samurai armour for Hofesh Shechter's 2010 "Political Mother" designed by Merle Hensel.
We are happy to work on smaller commissions too, such as the boots for Phillip Pullman's "Puss in Boots" at the Maddermarket Theatre, Norwich.
Evenlode Studio can offer a full service tailored to budget and timescales, from providing historical research and designs at the concept stage, working with a design team to manifest their designs through to completion and breaking down if required.
We pride ourselves on taking what's on the page and bringing it to life. As one of our previous clients said "It looks just like the picture!"
